Are you ready?

So, on my way to work this morning, I again notice a billboard that has been annoying me for sometime. It is located at the junction of PC World and Aldi, that's how I know it anyway, and so I have seen this billboard probably everyday for the past month or so. It is addressed to us, the public, from the Lincolnshire County Council and proudly declares 'We are ready for coastal flooding in Lincolnshire, are you?'. It is accompanied by a charming little image of Boston under about a foot of water. How wonderful that Lincolnshire County Council are ready for coastal flooding in our county. My first thought upon seeing this was, what do they mean they're ready for it? It obviously doesn't mean they are prepared to stop it, hence the lovely illustration of Bostonians in wellies carrying their children to safety. Does it mean that they are prepared to repair the damage once the waters recede? Doubtful. Does it mean that as the Lincolnshire County Council offices are located in the safety of Lincoln, probably up a hill, they are prepared to watch us lowly country bumpkins struggle with the flood waters, and all the other problems that come with it, sewage, etc and send a couple of sandbags our way? Probably.

Dear LCC,
Thank you for telling me that you are ready for Boston to flood, although I was a little concerned that you asked us if we are ready for it? WE RELY ON YOU, YOU DUMB IDIOTIC POLITICIANS! THAT IS WHY WE PAY COUNCIL TAX AND THE REST! 'Are you ready? What a question to ask! That's like the Prime Minister sitting in a bunker and addressing a nation on the brink of Nuclear War and saying, 'We're prepared for Britain to be blown to pieces, are you? ARE WE? LET US IN THE BLOODY BUNKER, THEN WE'RE PREPARED!
Yours Sincerely, etc.

I have an idea which will solve two problems, including our apparently imminent return to the Wash. We take all the Eastern Europeans (you knew it was coming), hollow them out, fill them with sand and strategically place them around the town and county in order to divert the water away from the important places, the hospital, my house, etc, and right into the unimportant places, like the council offices. Just a thought.
